Ohhh yeah...
Sink your teeth into this soft cloud of a biscuit. Let the crumbs melt on your tongue with gentle hints of butter and cream. Go ahead, break it open and spread some smooth warm butter on it and maybe some sticky sweet marmalade. You don't need anyone on Valentine's Day. Just this biscuit. Pair it with the choco-like velvety coffee you just made from your french press. Or have these in a basket, ready to serve alongside a perfect roast beef dinner with savory brown gravy atop mashed potatoes and accompanied by brown sugar glazed carrots. These biscuits will delight and amaze your senses.
If we were on a deserted island and you were my love and someone rescued you and not me, (I don't know why they would do that because that would be extremely rude, but if it happened) they better leave some of these biscuits in your stead.
Courtesy of Gold Medal Flour, here is a recipe for Extraordinarily Easy and Amazin Buttermilk Biscuits:
2.5 cups Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 to 1.25 cups buttermilk
1. Heat oven to 450 degrees F. In medium bowl, stir together flour and sugar. Using pastry blender or fork, cut in [cold] butter until mixture is crumbly. Stir in buttermilk until dough leaves side of bowl (if dough is dry, stir in addition 1-2 Tbsp of buttermilk). Note: Do not overwork the dough. It should look lumpy and sticky, you just want to get all the ingredients wet.
2. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough just until smooth. Roll to a tall 1/2 thickness. Cut dough with a floured 2.25 inch biscuit cutter. On ungreased cookie sheet, palce about 1 inch apart for crusty sides, or touching for soft sides (I like soft sides. :-D)
3. Bake 10-12 min or until golden brown. Makes about 12 biscuits.
Cook's note: I made the dough rather tall, so I only got 7-8 biscuits but I think they came out better because of that. I also had to bake them about 7 more minutes when I did that... just until tops are golden as you see in the picture.

I'm so glad you like! You have to try them (if you want biscuits). One thing I learned is that you barely mix the dough. I overworked a batch and it didn't come out so well. But when I put the blob mess on my counter and lightly patted flour on either side (and dipping the biscuit cutter in flour each time), they came out much better.
